Enjoy a taste of Aloha with these beautiful Fine Art Prints by Pacifica Island Art - printed in Maui, Hawaii. This print will look wonderful framed in the home, office or restaurant and is perfect for the Vintage Art Collector. - ABOUT THE ARTIST - MacDonald (Max) Gill - MacDonald (Max) Gill (1884-1947) MacDonald Gill, known as Max, was a skilled painter, architect, designer and cartographer. Unlike his brother Eric, Max Gill's artistic output was almost exclusively commercial. As such, his name is relatively obscure and few references appear in the written histories of art and design. The following seven posters belonged to Max himself and lot 32 even has an original property stamp pertaining to this. In the late 1920s and early 30s, Max was commissioned by the newly founded Empire Marketing Board whose aim was to encourage intra-Empire trade. Lots 33, 34, and 36-38 cleverly portray the agricultural output and fisheries of individual Colonies to promote sales of Empire goods. 'Packed with historical facts, literary references and whimsical quips, Gill's maps provided an endless source of entertainment.' (Dobbin, London Underground Maps p.24)
